West Bend United Methodist Church will be sponsoring a 3-part series providing information about the unique challenges of caring for someone you love with dementia.
West Bend UMC is proud to announce that they are offering three workshops providing practical information about caregiving. Part one covers useful information on how dementia can change the fundamental structure of families and give information on finding a new balance. As well as tips on different stages of the disease and common behaviors with practical solutions to navigate everyday life. Part two covers some of the toughest caregiver challenges such as delusions, anxiety, anger, repetition and wandering. Part three rounds out the series with strategies to address some of the daily care issues that can become overwhelming such as eating and dressing. The final session also covers home safety and practical tips on getting your loved one to give up the wheel.
The instructor is a NC Licensed Professional Counselor who has been educating adults for over 20 years. This series sprang from working with staff supporting an aging population in supported living settings and personal experience struggling to support & understand her Mother with dementia.
This 4.5 hour program will be held March 18, 20 and 22 from 9:30 am to 11 am at West Bend United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 1080 Albemarle Road in Asheboro, NC. This is a free event sponsored by West Bend UMC
